Frameworks
Agile Frameworks
Section titled “Agile Frameworks”There are many different frameworks of Agile and the one that we choose will depend on the project requirements. The two frameworks that we use are Scrum and Kanban (see the Learning Agile book mentioned in the Agile overview for a detailed overview of each) . Both are supported by Jira and both frameworks are run exclusively through Jira. There are many differences between the two (some overt and some subtle). It can be difficult to choose between the two, so here is a broad brush explanation.
Scrum is all about completing an increment of work in a strict length of time (called a Sprint). The ultimate goal (after many Sprints) will be a shippable product for the customer. A goal of Scrum is to keep an eye on the progress of the development and expose issues, schedule slippage and concerns as quickly as possible.
Kanban
Section titled “Kanban”Kanban is all about visualizing and limiting the work in progress to achieve maximum efficiency. Projects that are good for Kanban will focus on, and are driven by, short release cycles of a shippable product.
